Dear Colleague.

It is both an honor and a pleasure to invite you to take part in the Second Bianual International Congress of Minimal Invasion in Neurosurgery. In a joint effort, the University of Guadalajara together with the DPO Civil Hospital and the San Javier Hospital will sponsor this event from the 2nd to the 8th of May 2008 in the city of Guadalajara, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.

In this new millennium of enormous scientific worldwide advancements in communication, technological development and research, physicians with interest in Clinical Neurosciences have the great responsibility to offer the Mexican people new options for treatment of NCS injuries. In keeping with this objective, we have designed a full and varied scientific program that includes among others, keynote speakers, sessions, courses, workshops, live surgery and free papers, all of which are an ideal framework to stimulate a vigorous exchange of ideas and reflections on how to include these techniques to solve present neurosurgical problems in our daily practice with the least morbidity and mortality. We believe that in providing an adequate forum to hear and debate the philosophy and basic concepts and techniques of Minimal Invasion in Neurosurgery, we will encourage important aspects for the combining ethics, philosophy, research and individualization of each case and use of the different Minimally Invasive techniques for the benefit of the patient as well as the redefinition of the concept of success, which is achieved when we reintegrate the patient to the pre-morbid state. The meeting´s scientific program contemplates a) two days for lab work and live surgeries; b) three days for conferences, discussing current subjects such as the use of endoscopy for injuries of the base of the skull, radiosurgery, neuroendoscopy, trans-surgical neurosonography, endoneurosonography, neuroendovascular therapy and neuropsychology applied in MIN. Attendees will have ample opportunities to converse and share knowledge with recognized international and national professors, Stimulating an exchange of ideas and the possibility of joint clinical and research work, enriching our medical practice and professional relationships.

Besides the scientific sessions, there also is an important social program starting with an icebreaker cocktail in the beautiful classical Degollado Theatre and with a presentation of the Contemporary Dance Company of the University of Guadalajara. Also there will be a viewing of the painting exposition “Humanity and Feelings II”, and tours of the city for spouses which will have an opportunity to enjoy the beauty and historical heritage of our 466 year-old city, which distinguishes Guadalajara as a cultural metropolis of great artistic and technological development.

The Organizing Committee of the Second International Congress of Minimal Invasion in Neurosurgery and the “tapatíos” or citizens of Guadalajara, will do everything possible to offer you and your spouse a profitable and pleasant stay. Your active participation will play an important part for the achievement of a successful meeting, and we expect to have the opportunity to cordially welcome you and your family in this fair city of Guadalajara.
